Local activities before and after the Gala

  • Friday, April 21: Friday Night's Midnight Howler
Brewmeister Mike Hoops has done it again. He created a coffee beer so good that it makes people proclaim with delight, "I should drink my coffee with beer ALL the time!" By a graceful swoosh of his magical wand, Brewmeister Hoops blended grains, hops, yeast and Peace Coffee to create a subtle, dry, light stout called "Midnight Howler."

In celebration of IATP's 20th anniversary, please join friends of IATP and Peace Coffee on Friday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. for a pint of this truly exceptional handcrafted Peace Coffee Beer. The Town Hall Brewery is located at 1430 Washington Av. S. in Minneapolis. There will be a section in the back reserved under the name Peace Coffee.

  • Saturday, April 22: Field trip to see sustainable forestry in action
Come visit our Forestry Program's Forest Stewardship Council demonstration site on a wonderfully diverse landscape of woods and bluff, hardwood forests and farm fields, just 30 miles east of the Twin Cities. The Kinnickinnic River, a blue ribbon trout stream, runs through the land. There should be many migrating birds and early emergent spring wildflowers.

The demonstration site shows how we utilize international sustainable principles in managing forestland here at home. The land is rugged, so wear appropriate clothes. We'll eat a picnic lunch in the field.

    Leave 9:30 a.m., return by 3 p.m. on Sat., April 22
