Brian Ahlberg

Brian Ahlberg is a former board member of IATP. He is an independent consultant to leaders in nonprofit early-childhood advocacy organizations. He became president in January 2015 of Every Child Matters, a D.C.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to making a national political priority of policies that invest in and benefit children. Brian previously served more than 20 years as a Congressional staffer, including as legislative director to U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone of Minnesota and chief of staff to U.S. Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa. He also lobbied for nonprofit clients in the housing, transportation, infrastructure and economic development fields and worked for nonprofits in the consumer/environmental and family-farm/fair-trade advocacy sectors. Brian grew up in Chicago, St. Louis and Minnesota, graduated from the University of Minnesota and now lives on Capitol Hill in Washington with his wife, Jodi, and sons, Anders and Lukas, 9 and 6.
