Farm and Food Policy Summer InternResponsibilities The intern will assist IATP's Farm and Food Policy Director on a concept paper outlining policy options and a potential alliance between public health and sustainable agriculture stakeholders in the 2012 Farm Bill. Activities will include: reviewing stakeholder materials, relevant journal articles and commentary, and the 2008 Farm Bill to identify potential policy options; mapping out stakeholder organizations; assisting with writing and presentation development. QualificationsPrefer current graduate student in public health and/or public policy; self-starter with excellent research, organizational, and writing skills. Rural Communities: Sustainable Bioplastics InternResponsibilities Work with Rural Communities Program staff to research what types of crops and plants (including trees) are being used to make bioplastics, and to help identify what sustainability tools are available to help improve the environmental, economic and community benefits from producing these crops. Other research and writing work on sustainable bioplastics may also be included in the intern's work plan. Qualifications

Position open until filled. Healthy Legacy InternHealthy Legacy is a 32 member public health coalition dedicated to "safe products, made safely." ResponsibilitiesThis intern position will assist the Healthy Legacy Co-Director in planning and developing initiatives for the MN Business-NGO Work Group on Green Chemistry, including: helping with meeting and event planning; assisting with Fall Conference planning; research on green chemistry and green business practices; as well as coalition outreach on business issues. The intern will also attend Healthy Legacy coalition and various green economy events. QualificationsPrefer graduate level student or equivalent experience; self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills; business experience a plus. Event Coordination and Outreach InternshipThe Rural Communities program at IATP is seeking a capable, reliable and enthusiastic intern to assist with the coordination of the 2nd Midwest Rural Assembly, a two-day conference to be held in the Sioux City, IA area on August 16-17, 2009. The intern will work directly with the IATP planning committee and have the opportunity to engage in a variety of event coordination duties. In addition, this internship will provide the opportunity to learn about a number of important rural issues and interact with a variety of rural community leaders and decision makers.
