History: Lesotho's patent system was dependent on the UK's and South Africa's until 1985. Their independent system came into effect in 1989.

Membership: Paris, ARIPO, WIPO, PCT

Provisions until now: Plant or animal varieties or the biological processes for their production, other than microbiological processes, may not be patented.

Opposition possibility: No provision.
