The Story of Drought

Drought has always been a part of the human experience. But the story of drought is more than dry fields. It is the story of famine, migration and conflict. It also is the story of creativity, invention and reorganization. Drought and the issues surrounding it drive much of our technological, political, economic and ecological decision-making.

As we move into a new era of climate uncertainty, drought threatens not only to leave people hungry, but to upend political and economic stability on an unprecedented scale. How we respond to drought has always determined how well we survive it. How we respond to the coming era of drought is no different.     Chapter 1: More than no rain
