Purpose:

The Media Coordinator is responsible for helping the organization maintain a consistent message and voice for external audiences and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Media Coordinator distributes and tracks IATP content with the objective to increase the visibility of IATP’s work among a variety of stakeholders including the media, policy makers and constituencies with whom we work.

Responsibilities:

Distribution

  • Acts as liaison between IATP staff and media by:
    • Building and managing relationships with members of the media and other stakeholders (policy makers, NGOs, etc.)
    • Providing input to program staff on public relations opportunities
    • Booking press appearances and interviews for IATP staff
    • Organizing IATP media events
    • Understanding current media trends and topics
    • Tracking media coverage
  • Maintains and monitors IATP’s digital presence through email bulletins and newsletters, social media, website content, outside listservs and any other sources identified
  • Monitors digital analytics to be reported to the staff with recommendations for improved performance
  • Assists in the editing and distribution of press releases and other externally facing materials

Production

  • Responsible for video shooting and editing
  • Contributes to the communications team in planning and strategy
  • Assists Communications Manager & Creative Director in creation of IATP’s communication products, i.e. print materials, mass emails, podcasts, video, website, etc.
  • Assists with technical execution of IATP events

Communications Planning

  • Contributes to the communications team in planning and strategy
  • Along with the Communications Manager & Creative Director, develops and coordinates internal communication systems with program staff in order to identify audience and optimal communications platforms for distribution
  • Collaborates with fundraising staff members to ensure distribution of relevant communications to funders

Brand Management

  • Assists program staff in creation and execution of IATP organizational messaging
  • Ensures consistency of IATP branding on all current externally facing material
  • Works with partner organizations and outside contractors to manage IATP’s brand on third party material
  • Ensures IATP’s externally facing work is at its highest quality

Preferred Qualities and Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission of IATP and work of program staff
  • Two years of experience working in media, communications, or public relations fields
  • Experience conducting outreach and promotion to media outlets
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Previous videography experience
  • Knowledge of website content management, social media, and media tracking analytics tools
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and high level of comfort with other digital tools and databases
  • Profound sense of professionalism and stellar interpersonal skills
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Abundance of creativity and enthusiasm

Benefits and Compensation:

Compensation for this position is based upon qualifications and experience, with a starting range of $45,000-$55,000. IATP offers excellent health insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), paid vacation and holidays, sick leave, 403B retirement plan with employer match, employer paid life, AD&D and LTD insurance.
