The industrial meat and dairy sector emits more greenhouse gas than the entire transportation sector, while often relying on forced farm and slaughterhouse labor and draconian contracts for farmers. IATP has, for the first time, assigned greenhouse gas footprints directly to the corporations responsible. Fifteen of the world’s biggest meat and dairy companies emit more methane than countries such as Russia, Canada, Australia or Germany, reveals new research released today.
The following comment was summitted to the USDA regarding the proposed rule on the “Transparency in Poultry Growing Contracts and Tournaments” on August 1st, 2022. IATP supports the proposed rule and suggests several additions that would increase transparency and fairness for workers.
