The meat industry is continuing to rapidly change to become more global and be dominated by multi-national corporations. These multi-national corporations are merging to become even larger companies that control more of one industry from raising the animals to the processing and distribution.

Requiring country-of-origin labeling (COOL) of our meat at the grocery story is one of the most common sense food policies we have. Consumers want to know where their meat comes from, and COOL supports local farmers and ranchers. Yet, the big meat companies have been fighting against COOL for more than a decade.
