The destruction of 1,600 young trees by vandals at a provincial seed nursery
is deplorable. When these misguided eco-terrorists are caught, their
punishment should be to spend a back-breaking summer planting trees on steep
slopes. This costly attack follows others at the University of British
Columbia and Western Forest Products. In each case, the ostensible goal was
to stop genetically modified trees from being introduced into a wild
environment.

Vandalizing plant nurseries not only hurts their cause, it will delay much
needed reforestation.
