Genuine environmentalists should have no time for the fools who raided a
forests minstry nurseyin Central Saanich on the weekend destroying 2,000
seedlings.
The group claiming responsibility calls itself the Ministry of Forest
Defence, who claim they are stopping the spread of genetically mutilated
crops before they spread further into the wild environment. Perhaps this
group, and any others like them, should change their name to the Ministry of
Vandals, because that's all they are -- vandals.
It's one thing to protest, even vigorously, but an entire different matter
when a group acts like thugs, prowling about at night destroying property,
be it public or private.
We agree with new the new forest minister, Jim Doyle, who summed up their
actions by calling the group chickens and cowards who should hang their
heads in shame.
