The Financing for Development Bureau met on 19 October 2000 and agreed to

• convene the FFD Preparatory Committee on the morning of 30 October and on 16 November. (They were informed that the Second Committee of the General Assembly will consider financing for development on 20 & 21 November);
• send for approval by the Preparatory Committee a list of 22 additional NGOs to be accrediated to the FFD process;
• recommend to the Preparatory Committee a list of 20 members of civil society and 16 members of the business community to take part in the Civil Society Hearings (6-7 November) and the Business Community Hearings (11-12 December) (They were informed that a group of NGOs will be hosting an NGO FFD week from 4 November to 7 November in New York);
• and arrangements for the Bureau members to participate in the upcoming regional consultations

The provisional agenda for the 30 October Preparatory Committee includes the review and approval of the lists of FFD accrediated NGOs and the list of participants in the hearings, election of new members of the Bureau from two regions, and the election of the rapporteur of the Preparatory Committee. The provisional agenda for 16 November includes all outstanding issues (e.g. the venue, date, and format of the concluding event) and the adoption of a progress report from the Preparatory Committee to the General Assembly.

The FFD website (www.un.org/esa/ffd) has the lists sent for approval by the Preparatory Committee as well the schedules for the two sets of hearings and the NGO FFD week. The FFD website has also been updated with further information on the regional consultations and review of other high level declarations on issues related to financing for development.
