Job Description

The Intern will create a database of agriculture, climate, trade and rural development policy positions of 2020 presidential candidates. This position will aid IATP staff on research for other projects or papers analyzing and comparing candidates’ positions.   

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collect pertinent background information on 2020 Presidential candidates’ agriculture, climate, trade and rural development policy positions through online research, emailing or calling candidates’ offices  

  • Collaborate with program staff to create a system for sorting and organizing research and data 

  • Prepare research memos 

  • Other tasks and projects as assigned. 

START DATE: 
Start and end dates are flexible within the summer timeframe (June/July/August) 

LOCATION: 
Some work can be done remotely and some at the IATP office in Minneapolis. Weekly, in-person check in meetings, as well as periodic progress reports/meetings are required. 

DURATION/HOURS: 
10 hrs/week 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 
Applicants should have experience doing independent research and demonstrate proficiency in using search terms, Excel spreadsheets, and databases. Ideal candidate would be self-directed and able to work well independently. 

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
