Carbon Offsets at COP: A poison pill for the planet, farmers and communities

Watch a recording of the webinar here

Carbon offsets are ballooning in voluntary and compliance markets, threatening to undermine global climate goals by propping up fossil fuels and unsustainable farming practices, while harming vulnerable communities. Despite these impacts and significant problems with the scientific integrity of offsets, global leaders are convening in November at COP27 in Egypt to further solidify an international carbon offset program. Unfortunately, the United States is a major driver of offset policies, creating new "Climate Smart" agriculture programs and facilitating longstanding carbon trading networks that are laying the foundation for this international offset scheme.

Please join us for a webinar on October 27 at 12 p.m. EST/11 a.m. CST for this important briefing where we will discuss the growth of carbon offsets, the harms they cause communities in the U.S. and around the world, and real solutions to address the climate crisis while building a more just and equitable world.
