The Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission requested a study on the relationship between the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs) and Biodiversity related issues. The main objective of the study was to provide the Commission with a comprehensive background document on the relationship between IPRs as covered by the provisions of the TRIPs Agreement and biodiversity related issues.
