Bangladesh is now working on finding commercially meaningful market access in the World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations. "Now our main concern is to get commercially meaningful market access in the WTO negotiations," Commerce Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman told reporters after a meeting of WTO high-power committee at the Commerce Ministry.
* Referring to the decision of last ministerial meeting where the developed countries allowed 97 per cent products from the LDC's (least-developed countries) to give free market access, the Adviser said "it was a jugglery of figures. We have not got the access of our major export items in the 97 per cent."
* The next WTO LDCs meeting will be held February 27-29 in Lesotho where Commerce Adviser will lead a 3-member delegation.Asia Pulse
