PRAGUE - The Czech government was cited as approving a draft law on the regulation of genetically modified (GM) foods on Wednesday which would require state licensing of any GM product.

The story says that produce grown from GM material and products made from them would have to be submitted for approval by individuals or companies to state authorities before being sold, and would have to be labelled for consumers.

The draft would require, for example, that GM tomatoes and ketchup made out of them would each have to be approved by state authorities and properly labled.

The measure must, the story adds, still be approved by parliament.
