A huge mobilization for global justice will occur in Washington DC at the end of September. Endorsed by hundreds of groups, the events will coincide with large meetings of the IMF and World Bank. Sunday, September 30 will be the main day of action, but actions and educational events are planned throughout the preceding week.

The main themes will be cancellation of the debts of the poorest countries to the IMF and World Bank and opposition to the Free Trade Area of the Americas and Fast Track trade negotiating authority. Other focuses of the days of protest and educational events include opposition to garment-industry sweatshops and to Plan Colombia, and support for immigrant rights.

The Resource Center of the Americas, the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition, the Minnesota AFL-CIO, and a number of other groups are working to mobilize Minnesotans to participate in the events. Minnesota had the largest delegation of any state east of the Rockies at the Seattle WTO protests, and we hope to have an even bigger presence in Washington.

If you are interested in taking part in these actions, please email us at S30@americas.org (mailto:S30@Americas.org). We are trying to help arrange transportation and accommodations, particularly for people planning to travel to Washington on Friday, September 28 and return Sunday, September 30 at night.
