Thailand will emphasise the principles of the sufficiency economy philosophy, initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at the 12th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ''UNCTAD XII'' at Accra, Ghana, opening Sunday and ending Friday ''April 25'', according to Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Noppadon Pattama.
At the weeklong UNCTAD XII conference, Mr. Noppadon will lead the Thai delegation, which is convening under the theme of "Opportunities and Challenges of Globalization for Development."
He said UNCTAD sub-themes include improving sustainable economic development and poverty reduction in global policy-making, including regional approaches, such as the sufficiency economy.
The Thai minister said key trade and development issues and the new geographic alignments in the world economy, and enabling improenvironmental responsibility at all levels to strengthen productive capacity, trade and investment, and strengthening UNCTAD to enhance its development role, impact, and institutional effectiveness.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will attend UNCTAD upon the invitation extended by the government of Ghana and UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panichpakdi.
Her Royal Highness will speak on the topic "ICT for Development."
During the UNCTAD conference, Thailand will propose the principle of sufficiency economy, which is included in the report of the UNCTAD Secretary-General. (TNA)Mathaba News Network
