11/1 deadline
The University of MN Community Assistantship Program (CAP) provides applied research assistance to community-based groups outside of the Twin Cities metro area. Student researchers are available to citizen groups, nonprofit organizations and local governments that have clearly
defined research questions which, if answered, will help the organization or group move toward sustainable community development goals.
Projects may include any area relevant to the needs and interests of rural communities. Past students have addressed issues of housing, public health, planning, public policy, community diversity, K-12 education,
children-youth-family, agriculture, natural resources and tourism. Most projects run 3 to 4 months and coincide with the school year.
Communities or groups apply to the program by completing a simple application form. A review committee selects projects based on clarity of outcomes proposed and availability of qualified students. If you are
interested in a student researcher for Spring 2001 (January - May) or Summer 2001 (June - August), now is the time to apply. November 1, 2000 is the deadline.
The application form is available on the web site above or by contacting the CAP Coordinator, Jan Joannides, at 651/293-0782 e-mailto:[email protected]
