If you are a community group, nonprofit organization, or
individual involved in conservation work and could use assistance with geographic information systems (GIS), this may be the opportunity for you. The GIS for Fisheries and Wildlife course offered through the University of Minnesota each fall involves graduate and undergraduate
students in hands-on GIS projects as the means by which they learn Arc/Info and ArcView GIS software.
Groups of students design projects that involve land use mapping, watershed analysis, suitability analyses, habitat and/or home range analysis for plant and animal species, etc. They prefer to be working on projects that are useful to a conservation effort or organization.
