Anyone dealing with invasive aquatic or wetland plants may want to look further into these grants. Grants can be given for 1) education, prevention and planning (generally for a particular area), 2) early detection and rapid response (for new species or new sites), 3) controlling established infestations. Currently local units of government (including counties), tribes and certain qualified districts (lakes, sanitary, drainage, school) are eligible. Non-profit groups, individuals and state agencies are not eligible. If you have a project you would like to apply for in your area, you can help your municipality or county write and apply for the grant. Eligible sites include all water bodies including lakes, streams and wetlands.
