WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. -- It's tart, tangy and increasing jobs in the area here 11 percent.
The cranberry harvest has started, and the state is the nation's largest cranberry producer.
Ocean Spray's Wisconsin Rapids Cranberry Processing and Receiving Plant has a new concentrator, and the plant is expected to manufacture more cranberry concentrate than any other facility in the world, said plant manager Kirk Willard.
''The expansion is certainly going to add jobs to the plant,'' said Willard, who declined to say how many jobs were involved.
Ocean Spray employs 70 full-time and 120 seasonal workers throughout the year in Wisconsin Rapids. Nearly 100 of those jobs are filled during the cranberry harvest, which began about two weeks ago.Chicago Sun Times
