A new U.S. activist group, Reclaim the Seeds, is calling for coordination "actions" against biotech next week.

Opposition to genetically engineered crops, at full rage in the UK, has been growing in the United States, and there have been recent instances in which experimental crops have been destroyed by midnight raiders.

A post made to several activist Internet lists is calling for nighttime "hits" on crops to coincide with a "National Day of Action" against genetically altered food being organized by mainstream critic groups on October 27. The post is unclear whether the call for covert activity is for the night of October 26/27 or the night of October 27/28.

AMP News readers involved in all aspects of biotechnology are urged to review their security.

The post exhorts "Everything is up for grabs.

Our view is that if corporations, governemnts (sic) and Universities have any relationship to biotechnology, they are targets...Our first choice should be genetically engineered crops with active APHIS field permits.

Secondarily would be targeting different departments or researchers that receive corporate biotech money (i.e. like our action at Berkeley where we tore up crops grown by the Novartis grant recipient).
