The UNCTAD Virtual Institute (Vi) brings together a network of institutions of higher learning from around the world who conduct teaching and research on globalisation, international trade and development. Today, the network has grown to an impressive 23 member institutions.

The third meeting of the UNCTAD Vi will take stock of the progress made in its work since the members met at their second meeting in 2006 and reflect on future directions of work.

Members will discuss the experience of using university experts for the adaptation of Vi teaching materials to the contexts of participating countries.

They will also present joint projects undertaken by members in the area of research, teaching and development of teaching materials and debate topical international economic issues like globalization and development, international financial system and regional trade agreements with UNCTAD and other experts.

Members will also be presented with the new website of the Vi. Towards the end of the week, they will reflect on future directions of work and on the ways of assessing the impact of Virtual Institute activities and enhance on the networking opportunitiesUNCTAD
