Agence France Presse | March 31, 2000 PARIS - France still wants to see rapid Chinese membership of the World Trade Organisation, despite the collapse Friday of negotiations with the European Union, the French foreign ministry said.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Farmers intend to plant a record 75 million acres of soybeans this year, up 1 percent from 1999, and also are increasing their corn, cotton and sugar acreage despite a continuing slump in prices, the government said today. This year's corn acreage is estimated at 77.9 million acres, also up 1 percent from 1999, based on Agriculture Department surveys of farmers.
Agence France Presse TOKYO, March 31 (AFP) - Japan on Friday denounced a US plan to complain to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) about Japan's telecommunications regime, saying Tokyo does not violate WTO rules. "The announcement was one-sided, which is regrettable," Post and Telecommunications Minister Eita Yashiro told a news conference.
