Bill Wenzel

Senior Program Associate

Bill brings more than 25 years of experience in farm and food policy advocacy, grassroots policy campaign development and non-profit management and capacity building to the Local Foods Program. He is a graduate of the Hamline University School of Law. He has served as Chief of Staff and directed the Agriculture and Environmental Resources Committees for two Wisconsin state senators. His work with the American Farmland Trust, Clean Water Network, Wisconsin Rural Development Center and National Family Farm Coalition led to the development of numerous grassroots initiatives advocating policies that enhance family farm agriculture, promote environmental health and sustain rural economies. Bill’s work at the Wisconsin Rural Development Center also focused on developing new businesses and creating jobs in rural communities. Just prior to joining IATP, Bill operated a consulting business focused on federal policy development and advocacy on issues involving family farm, sustainable agriculture, climate change, biotechnology, food safety, nutrition, and sustainable development for farm, food and environmental non-profit organizations and businesses.
