The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative scheduled one hearing for public input on the proposed renegotiation NAFTA. The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP), Food & Water Watch (FWW), the National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC), the Rural Coalition and the Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC) jointly submitted comments to the U.S. Trade Representative calling for rejecting the current NAFTA trade agreement and for future agriculture trade provisions “to start from a goal of rebuilding farm and food systems to support fair and sustainable rural economies and food supplies”.  Specific proposals were outlined which would reverse promoting the interests of agribusiness and other multinational corporations at the expense of family farmers and small, rural businesses.
