Silos not recommended
Silo-mounted turbines aren't recommended by the wind-power industry, said Mick Sagrillo, a Door County small-wind systems expert.
Silos create a lot of turbulent air flow around them that can severely reduce turbines' output and damage generators, Mr. Sagrillo said.
Some people tinkered with the idea a couple decades ago, but none proved successful. Mr. Sagrillo said nothing has changed since then to make it work any better.The Country Today
