October 27, 2000 / Reuters WASHINGTON - The U.S. Agriculture Department will, according to this story, publish a notice in November asking grain exporters, farm groups, food manufacturers and others if government rules are needed to ensure the strict segregation of gene-altered crops, such as StarLink corn.
In September 2000, family farmers learned that StarLink corn, a genetically modified Bt feed corn invented by Aventis Crop-Science in France and sold in the US by various seed companies, had contaminated a variety of human food products.
