 Referring to the presentation by Global compact person, on integrating:  1. governance, 2. pricing as a means of valuing Natural resources, and 3. the need for integration of social economic and environmental aspect, this intervention is to share a different perspective on the same issues.
Genetically engineering plants to be Roundup-Ready has been a contributor to large-scale industrial agriculture. This has also created the development of weed resistance, with Roundup resistance having grown into a big problem because it is overused, poorly managed and the risks were downplayed.

The US food production system yields a large volume of food that is relatively low in cost for consumers but is often high in calories and low in nutritional value.
The focus on market mechanisms is a dangerous distraction from the real work of finding agricultural practices that reduce emissions while ensuring food security, environmental integrity and rural livelihoods.
We're in a rut when it comes to taking action on climate change. Congress has stalled on passing climate legislation. International negotiators failed to agree on binding emission cuts in Cancun late last year. And it's unclear whether the EPA will have the power to regulate greenhouse gases. Fortunately, we have a tool to help us make a real impact on slowing climate change: the Farm Bill.
