Since 2001, Shiney has been leading IATPs advocacy work on the right to water. Since then, she has been active in the campaign that led to the recognition in 2010 of access to safe water as a fundamental human right, and for much of that time, served as the co-chair of the fresh water caucus at the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development.
